Just Back From Sicily

Starting the 2023 travel season with a journey to the captivating island of Sicily was an absolute delight. Our esteemed partner in Italy curated a remarkable itinerary, showcasing the abundant wonders this unique destination has to offer.

To begin our Sicilian escape, we found ourselves in the enchanting town of Taormina. Famously known as the backdrop for the White Lotus hotel in the HBO series, Taormina exudes irresistible charm. Local artisans proudly displaying their creations, we indulged in the idyllic atmosphere and explored the town’s narrow streets, discovering hidden gems along the way. Moreover, for those seeking water adventures, Taormina offers rocky beaches and stunning blue grottos, perfect for basking in the coastal splendor. Our stay at the beautiful Mazzarò Sea Palace, located in a private cove, added an extra touch of luxury and serenity to our experience.

Continuing our journey, we were drawn to the majestic Mount Etna, an active volcano that stands proudly on the Sicilian landscape. Eagerly embarking on a hike, we immersed ourselves in the raw beauty of this natural wonder. Mount Etna caters to all adventure enthusiasts, offering skiing during the winter months and a plethora of thrilling summer activities such as hiking, biking, and much more. The ever-changing landscape and breathtaking vistas reminded us of the sheer power and magnificence of nature.

A short and scenic drive led us to Noto, the Baroque capital of Sicily. At noon, we indulged in a memorable farm-to-table lunch experience, savoring the finest culinary delights sourced directly from a local husband-and-wife-run farm. It was an extraordinary feast that encapsulated the essence of Sicilian gastronomy. The afternoon took us to Modica, renowned as the chocolate capital of Sicily. We visiting renowned chocolatiers and sampling their mouthwatering creations.

This evening we stayed at the renowned Il San Corrado di Noto, a magnificent Relais & Châteaux. Nestled amidst serene surroundings, this enchanting sanctuary provided the perfect setting to unwind and reflect on the day’s adventures.

The following morning, a scenic three-hour drive took us to the captivating fishing village of Cefalù. This picturesque gem seamlessly blends the allure of natural beauty with its rich historic charm. Our accommodation for the night was Hotel Le Calette, a haven of tranquility and luxury. As the day transitioned into evening, we were treated to a gastronomic extravaganza, indulging in a five-course meal that delighted our taste buds and showcased the finest culinary artistry.

Continuing our Sicilian adventure, our next destination is the vibrant city of Palermo. Our first stop in Palermo is the iconic Villa Igiea, where we will indulge in a delectable lunch and a site visit. For our two-night stay, we were treated to the refined elegance of the Grand Hotel et Des Palmes. This luxurious accommodation, steeped in history, offers a blend of classic charm and modern comfort.

As our journey in Sicily neared its end, we enjoyed a captivating walking tour to immerse ourselves in the unique cultural traditions of Palermo. Our exploration took us to a renowned puppeteer, the Four Corners, the Fountain of Shame, and Baroque oratories. Each stop offered a glimpse into the city’s vibrant past and diverse influences. Our Sicilian adventure came to a close with dinner at a noble palace and a surprise photoshoot with Pixaround nestled in the heart of Palermo.
